Echo Valley Art Group is pleased to announce the first in a series of art lectures open to the public, starting with Stacey Lee Webber.   The Group thanks Millersville University and The Department of Art and Design for their support.

Stacey Lee Webber (b. 1982 Indianapolis, IN) has lived and worked in Philadelphia, PA since 2011 where she currently resides. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (2008) and her BFA from Ball State University (2005). Her artwork has been acquired by the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, 21C Chicago and the Fuller Craft Museum. Webber's work has been privately collected nationally and internationally. She has exhibited in numerous galleries and art fairs including Untitled Art Fair in Miami and Art On Paper Fair in New York. She previously taught at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, University of the Arts - Philadelphia, Temple University- Philadelphia, and Rowan University - New Jersey. She worked for a period of time as a bench jeweler in Philadelphia and currently works full time in her studio in the Globe Dye Works building on the northeast side of Philadelphia. Her work is represented by the Philadelphia gallery Bertrand Productions and TW Fine Art based in Palm Beach and Montauk.

As a contemporary artist, Stacey Lee Webber cherishes working with found materials whose history is physically evident. Her work is often described as meticulous, pushing the boundaries of everyday recognizable objects to the point of unidentifiable. Through material, she strives to make artwork that interests a broad range of viewers and challenges their preconceived notions of the objects that surround them. Webber’s artwork is often painstakingly laborious which she uses as a continuous theme throughout her work. The pieces make the viewer question the value of her labor and the work ethic of blue collar America. Her practice incorporates a wide range of techniques including coin cutting, embroidery, metal fabrication, weaving and resin pouring. All of these techniques and more are used to declare the importance of the handmade while challenging these same systems. Webber’s objects are haunting celebrations of liberty and labor.
